He managed to swerve out of the way just in time, as the vehicle continued heading north in the southbound lane. Our nerves were so shot, we had to stop at the next exit (Gaston, NC) and take a break. When we pulled in, we met 2 Northampton County Deputies and asked them what the hell was going on. Turns out an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer's got in his car and got on the wrong way on 95. Fortunately they got him stopped before he wrecked. The deputies fell in love with my car, and wanted to take pictures of their cars next to it! It was an interesting trip to say the least! |
You might think that is an unusual incident but it has happened to me twice in the last 15 years here in South Central Virginia. Both times on a Sunday with a car load of blue hairs wearing their big hats coming from church.
