Overload leaf spring
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's the shorter leaf spring that sits on top of the others and isn't connected at the front

Oh ok, if I did that would it have any affect on the ride? And what if I loaded something in the back, would it put more stress on the leaf spring? I would do it if it didn't have any negative effects.

I removed the ol leaf on my old truck and wouldn't do it if you haul or tow a lot. Ride isn't changed but it will squat like a bitch if you put any weight in the back.

On my truck, its the very bottom leaf, its the stiffest one. You can still put stuff in the bed, but it all depends on weight at that point. I watch the way my truck sits when I actually load it up, which don't happen to often. I have been w/o my o/l for over 2yrs my pack is fine, when I do my full flip in the rear ill put it back in for added stability at that point, as for ride quality it hasn't changed, other than less body roll.

Yeah I hardly ever put anything in the back. If I do its very light. How much more drop will I get if I do it?

I'm guessing its the one with the bump pad right?

Here's a pic

And it looks like I'd just have to drop the axle, take the deal holding the leaf springs on loose, take pressure off the springs and slide the o/l out. Am I in the ballpark?

Yeah the short one is the overload spring. Is it attached to anything at the other end? If not, then you're right on the removal
