Default Trans temp gauges?
so im eventually gonna order gauges from glow shift, and i have considered doing 2 trans temps, and an oil temp.

i want to put a sensor in the "hot" line out to the cooler, and 1 in the #4 test port (i think thats the one) this way i could look and see what my output temps are, and what my case is running at as well.

anyone have any thoughts on this?

it wont cost me any extra to do the dual trans temps. since im goin with the pillar pod combo.

Im planning on doing a glowshift 3in1 diesel gauge. I was told you could use those clamp on senders or drill a hole in the pan and or remove a bolt and put the sensor in there. Im assuming that bolt is the "Test port"???

ya, i googled it, and found your diy on 3 different sites. though i thought it was different on the 2nd gens with the 46re trans?

what do you think of running dual trans temps?

Isnt one line coming from the coole,r cooling down the fluid then the other one releaseing the fluid from the trans to the cooler. Wouldnt it be better to monitor the fluid coming out of the trans that way you know if the trans is overworking, overheating etc.

thats one of the 2 im considering. im gonna put a t in the line that goes out to the cooler. the "hot" line. im still not sure if i want to run 2 trans temp gauges, we just got a new camper, 1997 26' Jayco Tandems Elec. brakes, 4800# now im not gonna think about pulling it, not until i swap my gears first. which i decided im gonna stick with the 33s and no lift, and go with 4.56s that way i know ill have plenty of torque and power to pull it without burning my trans up. though i do think it would be a smart choice to run dual tran temps, that way i know what the trans case it running at, and what the fluid going out to the cooler is running at. i seen that one guy had done this with 1 gauge and 2 senders, but put a switch to switch between them, though i really dont like that idea, and i thought it would be better to just run 2 seperate gauges, and label them acordingly. (ie. Case, and Line)

That does sound smart since you will be towing alot also I've head of guys having a dif temp gauge just because they tow soo much.

I think the output temp will scare you... Why do you want to see what your output temp is anyway? Aslong as you know what it's running inside the tran's, all is gravy.

In my '86 and '98, I tapped right into the driver's rear corner of the pan. No leakage and read's perfect.
