A picture of my McLaren GP Turbo coupe
I knew I had a picture of this car somewhere....
This is my 1989 McLaren Gran Prix Turbo Coupe. Today it just sits covered in my garage with 7,100 miles on it. This is the ONE that was the pace car in the movie "DAYS OF THUNDER".
Wife and I only ever took this to car shows. One of the best things I heard all the time was: "What kind of car is this?" It IS a very rare speciment with only 1500 every being produced. Has EVERY option that they offered on the Gran Prix that year.
We are NOW debating about selling this one, however May NEVER happen as it has been appraised at a VERY HIGH VALUE.
Still looks as new and even the interior smells like fresh leather!
Sorry, only picture of it I could find.

I knew you had a car from the movie but I didn't know what it was, that's a pretty cool ride Jim!! How in the world did a movie car make it's way into your hands, if ya don't mind me asking... I just figure something like that would end up in Hollywood or to a collector,,

That car is your retirement money, so you can sit on a beach somewhere.

I had seen this at our local Pontiac dealer in the showroom several years ago but it had NO window sticker. The salesman told me it was NOT for sale but would not tell me why. Found out later GM bought it back for the movie to promote Gran Prix's. Always remember that car... was searching the newpaper ads so a 89 GP Turbo for sale in Monroe NC and had to go look at it. Found papers in the glove box showing our dealer, saw the holes in the console where radio was mounted and mounts under the truck lid for the antenna and it had extremely low mileage.
Window sticker on this car is: $26,085 = a lot for 1989!
