new alternator time
Looks like I will be getting a new alternator this weekend...my volts are fine driving down the road...but when I stop at a red light or something my volts plummet. Been doing it all week but it got so bad tonight that it tripped the GEN light on my cluster...

I had to replace mine in my 93 Dakota and I always call both Auto Zone and Advance Auto to see who has the best deal and I bought mine at Advance Auto for $99 + tax. Of course mine was the highest output one and the cheapest any where else was $129.99 + tax!

When YOU take yours in; be sure to have them check for proper voltage to insure you get the proper one for your ride!

^^X2 A bad ground or loose positive cable will cause the same symptoms as a faulty alternator. Check your main ground and clean any corrosion from your terminals
