BigGirl's Audio Upgrade
My audio upgrade began yesterday. I replaced the front and rear door speakers, and, the 2 corner speakers in the dash. The center dash speaker was disconnected at this time, see below for details.
For the rear doors, I installed Rockford Fosgate Punch P-1675. These are 6-3/4" 3-way speakers.
For the front doors, I used Rockford Fosgate Punch P-1675-S. These are component speakers that include separate 6-3/4" woofers and 1" tweeters. I chose these because with the 7-speaker Infinity sound system only bass frequencies are sent to the front door speakers. With that, eventually the tweeter would likely blow on a 2, 3 or 4-way coaxial speaker.
For the corner dash speakers, I used Rockford Fosgate Punch P-132. These are 3-1/2" 2-way speakers.
For the center dash speaker, I planned to install the two 1" tweeters from the component speakers I bought for the front door. However, the factory speaker wire was not long enough to cut and crimp on a connector. To resolve this I will order a factory plug adaptor from ebay, amazon or crutchfield. The tweeters have threads for a small screw on the back so my plan is to mount them to a piece of stereo backstrap that I bend in a U shape with ears on each end to screw to the dash.
I am very pleased with the sound of these speakers, it is very clear and more powerful than stock. And the sound should only improve when my new head unit and self amplified bazooka tube is installed.
As far as installation, I am very impressed at how easy the door panels and dash plate can be removed and reinstalled.

UPDATE...
I installed the 1" tweeter in the center dash (both would not fit) quite a while back. It was a piece of cake with the crutchfield plug and play wiring harness.
For the new HU, I chose a Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS, won it on eBay from a local stereo shop for a helluva deal. I really like it, it has everything I wanted. It, along with PAC-audio canBUS and steering wheel control modules, were installed about a month ago. The new HU required a custom made bezel from Weedahoe.
For bass, I had a fairly new 10", self-amplified (250w) Bazooka tube that belonged to my nephew previously. When he sunk his mustang he actually pulled out the bazooka tube before it got wet (lol - only thing he saved from the car). I just had to buy a wiring kit from bazooka. I installed a few weeks ago.
I also installed a new rearview camera...this is an awesome feature and I recommend one to anyone with a lifted or big or dark tinted windows truck.
I am completely pleased with everything. The sound level and clarity is unbelievable, and the bass is surprisingly very good with the 10" bazooka tube.
So for this upgrade, the only thing left is painting the bezel. At the same time, some other interior pieces will be painted as well.
Happy, happy, happy!!!

Sounds sweet. I need to redo mine sometime, the built in amp does a virtual surround thing that is terrible and you cant turn it off.
