Top End Speed
Hey guys, isn't there a track in NC that the guys run top end at? Seemed I read something about bikes hitting 200mph, maybe an abandon military strip.
I think that would be great fun to see what Red would do...
Hell, even my puppy likes top gear.....

Greg, I believe you are thinking about the Laurinburg/Maxton Army Airbase, but according to East Coast Timing, who leases the 1.9 mile runway where you are allowed to run, 2011 will be it's last year, as the group who leases the strip to them will not renew their lease in 2012, as they are going to once again use the strip for increased training and traffic.

I dont know if yall know it, but most of the land speed records back in the day were set in Ormond Beach, here in Florida before everyone started going to Bonnevile. Just a ''now you know" kind of deal...hahaha

Any highway in levy county works fine, they dont believe in curves, only 90 deg turns every 100 miles

Well 13 hours is a bit far, but any highway run is really dangerous for many reasons but critters like wondering around is a real problem here. Faster you go the smaller a critter can be to ruin your day. Really bad juju.

Yeah and running top end you really want as little elevation fluctuation as humanly possible...which is why old airport air strips fit the need perfectly...Greg, since you are a military man, are you friends with anybody that can get you a couple runs on an active air strip maybe? Maybe while they are down?

It'd be cool to know top end speed of my truck but I would probably need like 5 miles or so. LOL
