Other recommendations?
I just bought my beater 97 Dakota 5.2 RC 5 speed and have done some of the basics. Oil change, rotate and balance, cleaned K&N air filter, rear axle fluid, manual trans fluid, brake fluid along with new front calipers and pads (was locked up), coolant change. Will do ball joints and new shocks hopefully Sunday. Spec stage 1 clutch on order because I got a leaking freeze plug and it's of course behind the trans lol. So while it's out figured I'd change the clutch. Plugs wires cap and rotor were changed like 20k ago so they are ok. I ran a few tanks of gas with Lucas to clean the injectors. Any other ideas or things I'm missing to make this a great truck. Thanks guys!

Great idea but how can I do it myself without the flush machine?

Basically what this guy does is drain the resevoir, then disconnect the supply line, and has someone turn the wheel from lock to lock while he feeds fresh fluid into the resevoir (this video he just turns on the engine for a few seconds), once the stuff is coming out clean then you connect it up and top it off.
Ohh and BTW, use ATF4 instead of Power steering fluid

Cool thanks for the video sounds like another project... Atf4? I know that's used in the newer vehicles but not my old 97? Let me know thanks Daniel!

Thats what is called for in my 96 Ram for PSF...ATF+4...even if it doesnt, the ATF is easier on the seals that PSF...If you need any, give me a shout...I work for an oil company.
EDIT...if you really wanna extend the life of the pump, add an external filter to it too...
