It's athird world country, steadily sliding backward. I love the place but it's future is sad. The good news is the geek squad makes house calls.

My Gramps has been living in the Phillipines for years, with his Navy retirement and Native Wife. Pretty Standard Story there. I dont blame him moving from California to there one bit. Cheaper and easier.

I'l give the yard boy $3 a day, he'll work maybe 3-4 hours during the day. I give him a drink and a nab around 10am, lunch is on him (takes a nap) and a snack around 2pm. Nobody will die from over work. But the tradesmen have no tools. I have a carpenter/plumber that does maintence, he'll show up with nothing but his flip-flops. I'll give him a cheap hammer and he's golden. I also have a mechanic that maintain my van. This guy is pretty good and I give him a quality tool each year. It's a different world there and I can text these guys pretty much anytime and they'll come over and see me. last year I had a coolant leak from the intake manifold heater and I couldn't see what the problem was, so I jack the van up and took it apart to find the problem, my mechanic came over pissed off becuase I was working on the van and hadn't called him. Ran his ass off, and finally located a corroded elbow that was the problem. Fixed it and had him do a oil change to save face. It's a strange place with completely different set of values. And they have tools there that make HF look like snap-on.

I have always wanted to go to another country...my traveling experience so far is very limited...I have never been north of Virginia or any further west than Tennessee...One of these days, when life slows down a little for us, I wanna go to Jamaica or somewhere else in the Caribbean, sit back on a beach somewhere and drink til I cant count my toes.

Unfortunately in this day and age, when out and about you always need to be able to keep track of your toes.... As for being here, there's no reason to go north of Virginia....
