Default Need some painting tips - K&N Intake
So yesterday my K&N intake arrived. When I got home, I pulled everything out, grabbed the paint and adhesion promoted i used to do the rest of my engine bay, and tried to paint the intake. After 3 coats of adhesion promoter and paint... IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP!

When I took it out of the box, it was very greasy and had an oily shine to it. I took some 409 to it to try and get that off, but it was still a little slick. I'm thinkin it looks like that because of the oil residue, or what. I'm thinkin I might head to home depot on the way home, grab some white or grey primer, hit it with a few coats of that, then try the paint again.

Anyone else got other suggestions?
Thanks

clean it with some denatured alcohol or mineral spirits...scuff it with some steel wool or sand paper...hit it with some self etching primer, then paint...

dawn dishsoap, or simple green, then sand the shit out of it, wash aagin with dawn, dry thoroughly hit with adhesion, then follow directions for paint, i would think that would work...
