Default Air Intake Setups
I know there are only a few of us 2nd genners on here so far, but lets see your air cleaner setups, prices, and how you like them.

I have a few that I have tried out

Originally I went from stock to a standard Edelbrock 14x3, big difference, only around $40 from Advanced Auto.

Then I went to an S&B CAI, which was about the same at wide open throttle as the Edelbrock, except much more low end and towing power. $215 directly from their website.

After I received my Mopar Performance valve covers, I decided I would buy a used Mopar Performance round Air cleaner with a K&N element to match my valve covers. This thing definitely performed better than a standard edelbrock with paper filter. Cost me around $80 dollars for the Air Cleaner and K&N.

Now I am running the S&B setup again, but I fabricated a fresh air tube for it that runs from the enclosed box to the front of the truck directly behind the grille, it lowered my intake temps from 145 degrees to 118 degrees while cruising at 50mph. This seems to have given me the most gain yet, and I suspect it will really be handy in those 100 degree summer months.

So what are the rest of you 2nd genners running? And post pics.

That last version is pretty slick...I like it. I wanna do a CAI on my 5.2...but it has to wait until after Christmas.

Im not sure I agree with the second set up there. The whole idea of the CAI is to have unrestricted airflow into the intake. Putting the filter in a box defeats the purpose. That set up would be equal to you buying a K&N filter and putting in your stock airbox....

I like the Mopar Filter (K&N) the best

96 Magnum, Thanks! I may consider selling it, I switch back and forth between it and my Mopar Performance one often to see which one I like the best. Only takes me about 5 minutes now

RamStrat, I agree with you, which is why I built the fresh air tube. Although, I had a drop in k&n filter for my stock unit, and the S&B unit unmodified was definitely better. The whole idea behind it was cooler temps, not so much crazy air flow, which is great for long trips in the summer. But you are absolutely right.

Well, lets see.... my first one was a K & N on my SRT; loved it, but finally got my hands on a Legmaker "HAMMER DESIGN" and like it even better.

And my 05 Mag R/T has the Big Bully and love that one too!
