Default Torque Converter Install
Ok, well we are about 17 work days from work shutting down for the summer which means I am finally going to have time to install my new torque converter that I bought from Circle D back in October. I have the Dodge Service Manual that lays out the removal of the trans and swap of the converter pretty well, but I am wondering if there is anyone out there with first hand knowledge of the swap. Maybe some tips to help make te install go faster. Like for instance, it says to fill the converter before install but doesn't say how much fluid I need to fill it. Anyway, any input you guys have is greatly appreciated.

Jason, I had no place to do the work when I did mine and ended up having a defunct dodge dealer do mine. Took the guy about 3-1/2 hours start to finsh. This guy from dropping the shaft to sitting on the bench took him 50 minutes. I watched but didn't get my hands on anything. But using a lift with a trans jack I think you might be able to just roll the trans back enough to pull the converter and slide the new one back in. If you are changing the front seal then you will need to drop it down enough to get at the seal. Seemed he put two qts in the converter. Ther was a DIY floating around, I'll see if I can locate it.

Edit: Olddirtyjohn did a DIY if I remember right, but I can't find it. Anyone have a link?

I appreciate that. Luckily I do have another guy helping me and I've got a few quarts of ATF in my shed.

Looks like I will be wrestling the trans out while working on the ground, anyone know how much it weighs full of fluid with the transfer case attached? Got to make sure it is not too heavy to handle with the t-case on it.

I will be in the driveway with plenty of jacks, jack stands and a tranny jack.
