Default How does this happen?
How is it possible, that your car breaks down and you stop on the side of the road to repair it and get caught in the driveshaft of a PARKED vehicle? For the driveshaft to be turning the truck would have had to be in motion...

Well it must happen enough. I think mainly with work trucks this can be a problem.

See the pic below. This was on a ram 4500 from Progress energy that came into work a few days ago.

I dont see how the driveshaft turns without the truck being in motion...I can see if the truck rolled or something...

I think some equipment runs off the engines power. They have some type of clutch system that disengages the drivesaft for movement but allows it to power a generator or crane.

with the new tech out there it is hard to say what they are powering with the driveshaft but like someone else said you also have the pto on some of these bigger trucks that runs hydrolics
